Report Manager as "Default" web site

Report Manager as "Default" web site

by  Sheco  Posted    (Edited  )
When installing the Report Manager web application, the wizard offers the option of making Report Manager the default web site on the server.

If you later regret the choice you made during installation, there is no need to re-install Reporting Services. The choice may be reversed by changing a few properties of IIS.

Whether you choose this option or not, Report Manager is configured in IIS 5.0 as a Virtual Folder under the "Default Web Site." The difference between the two options is that, when you choose to make Report Manager the default site, the existing "Default Web Site" is redirected to the virtual directory.

To reverse your choice:
1. Open the "IIS Admin" SnapIn utility for Internet Information Services.
2. Right-click the "Default Web Site" and choose Properties from the context menu.
3. Switch to the "Home Directory" tab.

If you wish to set Report Manager as the default:
4. Choose radio button "A redirection to a URL"
5. In the "Redirect to" textbox type: http://localhost/reports
6. Click the checkbox labeled "A directory below this one"

If you wish to restore the "Default Web Site" as the true default:
4. Choose radio button "A directory located on this computer"
5. In the "Local path" textbox type: X:\inetpub\wwwroot (where X is the drive letter of your \inetpub)
