Issues:
-You cannot see elements or the item selected does not populate
-You cannot connect when network and connections are correct and you get the Exception - cannot determine the device type
-You cannot start EM via shortcut (see bottom)
1. Upgrade your Element Manager to the latest (62.0.5), [link https://curlycord.com]go here to request a copy if need[/link]
bcm.sipsw.com/ApplicationLauncher is no longer in service
62.0.3 was that last version available for download on the BCM web page (latest release) and you should be able to get by with this version unless you need one of the fixes listed below:
The following 2 versions had one fix each:
62.0.4 Release notes:
EM v.62.0.0 does not allow Analog/Digital ports to Be "Enabled" or "Disabled". Navigate to an Analog Station or Trunk Module and when you attempt to enable or disable an individual port, the options are no longer visible on screen. With this update, EM allows to enable or disable Analog/Digital ports.
62.0.5 Release notes:
Element Manager hangs when FPGA patch is applied. In the FPGA patch, BCM is rebooting through the FPGA script and not through the patch script. Element Manager enables the close button on the Applying/Initializing progress update message box which allows the user to close the message box to avoid Element Manager from hanging.
2. Upgrade your Java here: [link https://java.com/en/download/]Java Downloads[/link]
-You should download/install 32Bit java even if your Windows is 64bit
-Java 32bit is installed in Program Files for 32 bit Windows or installed in Program Files (x86) for 64bit Windows.
If still an issue:
Option 1
Edit the java.security file.
You may have to do this for every time java is updated, you can disable updates in java console if need.
Only necessary if you cannot attempt the above fixes at the time.
-Do NOT use Windows Explorer to do this.
-In Windows navigate to your Notepad icon and right click it's icon and select "Run as Administrator" (Win 10 users select More 1st).
-Using notepad select File then Select Open and navigate to Program Files/Java/YourVersion#/lib/security or 64BIT users "Program Files (x86)/Java/YourVersion#/lib/security
-In the far lower right hand side change "txt files" to "all files"
-Open java.security.
-Use the CTL + F command to start FIND
-Search for MD5 (ignore lines with # or Example at the beginning of the line) and remove these two references: MD5 (2 locations) and MD5withRSA (1 location), [highlight #FCE94F](Update Sept 2021)[/highlight] as for the line that has MD5with RSA you also need to remove TLSv1, TLSv1.1, as seen here : jdk.tls.disabledAlgorithms=SSLv3, TLSv1, TLSv1.1, RC4, DES, MD5withRSA, \
Ignore the rest further down the page.
-click file/save file
Option 2 if above does not work
-Download and install an older version of Java 1.7.0_79 here: [link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase7-521261.html#jre-7u79-oth-JPR]Java Archives[/link]
Do not uninstall the current version as you can run multiple versions at once.
Keep your versions all 32 BIT or all 64 BIT
If need in troubleshooting you go to the Java Console/Java tab/View button and enable or disable different installed versions.
