If you need to access the 3300 RTC shell from a remote location, you can use the Secure Telnet Client that was released with the SX200ICP and is available for download from Mitel On Line. Note, the secure telnet client is part of the software bundle for the 200 ICP so you will need access to that product in order to find the secure telnet client.
Optionally, you can use PUTTY and select RAW mode & port 2002. (PUTTY is a free download - Google for it) Tnx to MitelTech for the tip about PUTTY.
Usage for Secure Telnet:
Execute the secure telnet client program
At the telnet> prompt enter the command, open www.xxx.yyy.zzz 2002 where w.x.y.z = the IP address of the RTC and "2002" is the socket.
Example, open 10.244.16.20 2002 <press enter>
Handy commands: bootChange (case sensitive) will allow you to edit the boot line. Changes take effect upon the next reboot. hardreset (case sensitive) will force the system to reboot (same as pushing the reset button on the front of the controller)
Do not use the appShutdown command when using remote access because this command will terminate all sockets including your secure telnet session and the system will subsequently autoboot by itself, ignoring your attempt to shut down the controller.
