hairlessupportmonkey -- I prefer the handle hairysupportmonkey, but that handle is not available. I'm neither hairy or hairless, however, I'm a support engineer - specialising in both IT and IP Office (mainly) and I am the general support monkey round here. I lurk in this forum as I like to better understand the language I speak and enjoy its quirks. I just wish I had more time to read more!

HarleyQuinn -- Sheffield, UK -- My handle is a combination of being an impatient 21 year old and at the time, having a desktop picture several Batman villains. Strangely, it didn't seem to matter that Harley is woman.

hdtelcotek -- Where I lived when I signed up (High Desert of SoCal)and what I do (telco tek).

hilfy -- Hilfy is a character in C.J. Cherryh's "Chanur" books. This series is about, among other things, a race of space-faring cats. Most of the business and space travel is done by the females because the males are less able to control their emotions - especially the more violent ones. Hilfy is the niece of Pyanfar Chanur, captain of the ship "Pride Of Chanur". When I got my first cat after buying my house 8 years ago, I named her Hilfy because Pyanfar was too big a name to live up to and, as she was 6 weeks old, she was little fluffball. Hilfy or HilfyKitty became my persona across many of my on-line activities because it was a name that was very rarely already taken.

InDenial -- Netherlands - The Hague Working and living here since 1999. -- Once, about 3 years ago - <insert a long sad story here> - so, in short, I took it because of a situation in my life and I kept it.

IPGuru -- I am a telecom tech support engineer specialising in the Avaya IP office. It seemed like a good name to have when I joined the IP office forum here, and it is politer than some of the others I have been called. I used to be a keen scuba diver but, time and financial constraints mean I rarely get the chance these days. (English Channel the wreck divers paradise)

iwrk4dedpr -- I've fortunately been able to keep my Handle through 3 different ISP's and a myriad of forums. Simply put it explains the reason why I have a job: I WoRK 4 DEaD Presidents. Essentially, I collect their portraits. Of course I never get enough Benjamin's in my pocket at any given time.

jadams0173 -- Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina -- The handle is my first initial and last name with a combination on birthday digits. My first programming experience was on a TRS 80 EA (BASIC) in high school followed by Applesoft BASIC, and then PASCAL and Turbo PASCAL. In college, I had more PASCAL and some C++ which I don't remember. I'm self taught in VB6 and I'm working on VB2005.net.

jancebk -- jancebk - comes from years ago when I signed up for AOL. Chose first name, middle initial, and last initial back in the olden days when you filled out paperwork to do so. Apparently I left out the "i" in Janice (or the person who typed it in at AOL did). The handle stuck, even though I no longer use AOL.

jazz88 -- New York City -- jazz88 - radio station in NYC I listen while driving.

JCreamerII -- Southern New England -- I am old enough to know better, play a lot of chess, and have been in IT for 27 years. I have done about every other job locally prior to moving into IT, when dual floppies were all the rage.

jebenson -- Austin, Texas here. YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaawwwwwww! -- je: first two initials (James Eric). benson: last name. I always try for JEB, but its usually taken.

JediBMC -- My original desired "handle" was Jedi. Unfortunately, someone beat me to that name. Therefore, I appended my initials (or a variation on my initials) to the nick to create JediBMC. If I were to truly utilize my initials, they would be BPMC, as my actual name is Brian P. Mc Clory. However, I decided long ago to omit my middle name to fit into the norm of having three letters.

jennuhw -- Mine is also from the old AOL days. My first name is Jennifer, and my maiden name begins with a W. I was bound and determined to not have any numbers at the end of my name, so I kept butchering my screen name until I found one that worked. I have never run across another jennuhw!

jerryreeve -- Native Wisconsinite -- I am a telecom service manager. I spent 20 years in US Air Force (10 overseas), and am still working on my 30 year degree. I bounce around on hobbies a lot: mow the lawn, woodworking, mow the lawn, sailing, mow the lawn, computers, mow the lawn, SF Reading, mow the lawn, Non-SF Reading, ....

Jomama46 -- I live in Fairfax Virgina, commute 20 miles to Washington DC to work (1 hour drive). -- Jomama comes from an old Frank Zappa tune. I use it on all forums and add 46 when I have to. jrbarnett -- Live just inside the M25 London orbital Motorway (eastern side), work in Abingdon, just south of Oxford, UK.

jsteph -- Naperville, Illinois checking in. It's Chicago's largest suburb, and a nice place to live except for the traffic.

judgeh59 -- Judge has been my nickname since I was 9 hours old. A nurse said I looked like a judge she knew and my parents thought that was cute.

K0b3 -- 'Kobe' is the name of my son and with a little 'L33T 5P34K' conversion my new handle was bornà

kaht -- When my best friend and I graduated high school (1995) his parents bought him a computer for graduating. It came installed with Prodigy (what ever happened to them anyway?) and that was our first taste of the internet. We tried thinking of clever nicknames for our login handle, and of course everything was taken. After trying about 10 different names to no avail, my friend slammed his fingers down on the keyboard and "kaht" came out. I've used it exclusively for the last 10 years, and it's almost always untaken.

kalistoh -- A little shanty town outside Glasgow -- My handle is taken from one of the various pronunciations of JupiterÆs eighth moon, Callisto (ka LISS toh). Unfortunately the original spelling was already taken, so I used some imagination. I've a friend who works in a planetarium, and heÆs wowed me with the stars and planets.

KempCGDR -- When I'm at Uni I'm in Coventry and when I'm at home I'm in Shepshed (a large village/small town near(ish) to Leicester) -- Mine's easy enough, Kemp's my surname (and the name I use almost anywhere, including real life) and CGDR is taken from an old Napster ad - Corporate Greed Doesn't Rock

kjv1611 -- South Carolina, USA -- I am a born-again Baptist. Currently, I work in a compliance department, and am an unofficial help-desk guy. My hobbies include computer repair and related things, audio/video stuff for the church, web design, playing chess, family time, and personal study and reading.

KornGeek -- Quite simple actually. My favorite band is Korn (although I like a variety of other music of many different genres). I proudly classify myself as a geek (funny how it's lost its negative connotation). Once when I was trying to come up with a unique login on a different site, I put the two together. I figured very few Korn fans probably classify themselves as geeks. Sure enough, it was available. It's been available almost everywhere I've ever tried it. I even have the corresponding Hotmail and Gmail accounts.

lespaul -- Albuquerque, NM; home of the International Balloon Fiesta and competing with Denver as the "Mile High City". My mountains aren't quite as big as Dave's and I don't have a view of them from my home office, but I do have a great view from my work office of the West Mesa and on clear days all the way to Mt. Taylor, almost to the Arizona border! From Sandia Peak (with one of the countries longest trams) on those clear days you can see into 3 states! Colorado, Arizona & Texas!! Amazing place to live. Additional: Born Shreveport, LA; Charleston, SC; Sacremento, CA; Denton, TX (just north of Dallas, home of the former North Texas State University - has a new name now); Tampa, FL; McGuire AFB, NJ (no real "town" near this base!); Albuquerque, NM; Denver, CO; Columbus, IN; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; and back to Albuquerque. -- A pun on the famous guitarist Les Paul. My name is leslie, and my husband's name is paul. Nope neither one of us plays guitar!

Lightning -- Canberra, Australia. Famous(?) as the Capital City of Australia. Population approx. 300,000. Timezone is Australian Eastern. -- Many years ago I went on a camping trip with some friends. One night, after several beers, we tried to chop up a log for firewood. My friends all fell about laughing when it was my turn to chop, because I "couldn't strike the same spot twice". Since we were all Tenpin Bowlers, the nickname stuck.

lisaharris -- Born and raised in southern New Jersey, USA -- The username is pretty self-explanatory. I'm a self-taught geek. My father bought one of the 2nd generation TRS-80's and my natural curiousity took over. I taught myself BASIC at age 11 and haven't stopped. Some of the earlier computers Dad bought were the Atari 1040ST with an amazing MEG OF RAM and the TI-99/4A that had an incredible RS-232 expansion box. Now I am working in financial services as a database administrator. Databases keep everything nice and neat and normalized, which fits well with my logical brain. Single mom of 2 kids and 3 dogs. I have a warped and twisted sense of humor. I named my home wireless network "Virus Distribution". And proud to say I haven't had a single unauthorized user.

LNBruno -- Charlotte, North Carolina -- Age: 0.5 century. Status: married (again), no kids (this time); animals: we have two dogs - Tobey, a three year old aussie shephard mix rescued from a kill shelter by my wife, and Gibson, a two year old border collie mix who adopted me while I was on a trip to PetSmart. Gibson's more mentally disturbed than I am, which has really helped me move up the food chain in our house. And we have two cats who have moved into a room on the other side of the house because they don't like being herded. Work: IT Consultant: Jack of Some Trades and Master of what do YOU need today?. Programming: Got started in the biz writing macros in Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets back in the pre-MS days. Was absorbed into an IT dept. in the early 90's and, with VB2 & SQL Server (what was it back then? Version 0.1?) in hand, was turned loose on an unsuspecting user community. Many versions, projects, and companies later, I'm contracting at BigBankX doing mostly SQL Server stuff -- SPs & DTS mostly -- and I can't say I really miss the webby/GUI stuff. Other stuff: I'm a middle-class, male, white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant who was brought into this world by parents having much the same qualities. And like so many others of that caliber, I have my own share of hopes, dreams, and fears, both real and imagined. I've been through a lot, and most of it was my fault! And finally: God help me - we just bought a boat!

LTeeple -- Canada -- Laura Teeple (not very imaginative... I know!)

MakeItSo -- I come from Kaiserslautern, Germany (Ramstein), work (and live most of the time) 300 km farther north in Wuppertal, Germany (~40 km northeast of Cologne). -- Mine was not first choice. The handle(s) I wanted to take first were already occupied. My first choice would have been MurphysLaw (clear), Columbo (one of my former nicknames), AndyG (derived from my name), or Moebius (character in one of my favorite novels, F. Duerrenmatt's "The Physicists") Spock (clear, I guess). Being a Star Trek fan, I thought Picard's standard response "Make it so!" would be a good choice and I was overweening enough to consider it also fitting. Meanwhile I know that "MurphysLaw" would have been a muuuuch better choice!

manhunter2826 -- My nickname comes from one of my all-times favorite films, Manhunter.

mattKnight -- I lived for my first 18 years in Bangor, North Wales and left without a Welsh accent. I moved to Bratfud, in God's wonderful county! It is alleged that Bradford, at one point, had more millionaires than the rest of the world. However the worldwide textile market has altered radically since then and so the wool trade is a vestige of its former glory.

Maxwell2005 -- Linz, Austria just south of Germany.

MCuthill -- Saskatchewan, Canada -- My name is Mike and I'm a banking systems analyst. Education: Art and Science Degree focused in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Business Administration; languages: English and some French, plus VB, SQL, Crystal Syntax, and ASP; books: love a good fantasy adventure read, i.e. Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, and Tolkien.

MdnghtPgmr -- Here's another entry from the US, from the so called Midwest, Topeka Kansas. -- Mine is a bit of a play on IBM midrange command names. Midnight Programmer (IBM seems to hate vowels). It no longer truly fits what I do. Many moons ago, when I was young and foolish, I worked long hours for not much pay and adopted my current ôhandleö. Over the years the pay went up and the hours have gone down. I still get the occasional ôon call, callö but generally, no longer work much past five. But itÆs a good handle; IÆve had it for years and years, use it everywhere, and wonÆt give it up.

MeGustaXL -- I like Excel and use it almost exclusively for my work as a Reliability Engineer. I go on holiday in Spain a lot, so I'm learning Spanish, hence "I Like XL" = "MeGustaXL"

Mr3Putt -- I got my handle the old fashioned way: I earned it. A round of golf has not begun until I have my first three putt bogey. I pounded my irons all the way down to a 9.6, but my short game was a barrier not to be overcome. I've got a couple others that I use around the web: BoiledToad, which I use for online gaming; and GSTK (God Save The Kinks) which I use infrequently. BoiledToad is, like some others here, an ancient AOL last resort. Every mutation of Mike and Little was gone... so I tried BoiledToad in frustration. Voila!

mscallisto -- Years ago I was a huge fan of Zena Warrior Princess and somewhat enamored with Hudson Heidi Leick a.k.a. Callisto, ZenaÆs archenemy. Callisto was taken (as a handle) so I added Ms., hence mscallisto. (Please donÆt tell my wife!)

N1GHTEYES -- I work in electro-optics, particularly infrared sensors. Therefore, Nighteyes seemed like a good idea and I've used it elsewhere, but it was already taken on Tek-Tips; hence, I chose N1GHTEYES. My minion's suggestion that the all caps handle is because I shout a lot, but that is a vile calumny. Underneath, I have a very tender 'sole'.

Onyxpurr -- Mine I've had for years, since my AOL days. It reeks of sweetness when you learn it's my cat's nickname, I'm almost embarrassed to share. LOL. My cat is Onyx, and my husband and I just lengthened it to Onyxpurr as a nickname.

orypecos -- My 'orypecos' comes from the linux perversion that avaya uses to program their telephone systems. That name comes the 2 streets that boarder the site in the metro Denver area.

paskuda -- Paskuda is something/someone really really nasty and/or ugly in Polish language; it's not necessarily used as offensive word, it's more suitable for jokes. My wife quite often calls me that

Paul4Meep -- Abington, PA -- My handle is simple. My name is Paul. My girlfriend's nickname is Meep (everybody calls her that) and I am for (4) her.

PaulTEG -- Naas, Co Kildare, Ireland

philhege -- Greater Niagara region, 26 clicks northaest of Buffalo, New York -- I have the most unoriginal, pedestrian handle: LEFT(first_name, 4) + LEFT(last_name, 4). I'm a de-facto SQL Server DBA, Sharepoint nanny, Web application provider, and .NET dabbler for a manufacturer of thermal transfer ribbons. I have a degree from Cal State San Bernardino in "Liberal Studies", with an emphasis in pre-teaching. I've been in the database world since dBASE II and in the web space since CF 3.0 (<.) (well, first I wrote HTML generators in Fox 2.6 back in 1992, but that's another story.) I'm also a part-time musician, billiards aficionado, softball player, and deck designer.

PyroTyger -- I had the nickname "Tigger" assigned to me while in University, by friends, lecturers, and everyone in between. I tried "Tyger", after the fantastic William Blake poem -\, one that means a lot to the missus and me. I also like it's assonance to "Cyber", but that one was not available. Eventually I decided to append "Pyro" due to my love of fire-performing (staff, poi, etc.) and my geekish love for things that go boom. Thankfully, it hasn't been taken in the forums I've across over the years, at least not yet.

randy700 -- My first name is Randy. As an avid bowler, it was my goal to eventually reach a score of 700 in a 3 game series. Perhaps I should now consider changing to randy800.

razalas -- Just for the record ... my last name spelled backwards. Acquired in high school where I was called such by my classmates, except their version had an extra "s" at the end.

RCorrigan -- IFSC Dublin 1 (International Financial Services Centre) (Dublin 1 is City Centre North of the River)

rjoubert -- Indianapolis, IN, USA -- My name is Rich, and I live in the Indianapolis, IN area. I am originally from Saratoga, NY. I joined the Army out of HS and spent time in New Jersey, Texas, California, and Korea. After the Army, I went to college at SUNY, Fredonia, NY, and then lived in the Buffalo, NY area for another seven years. I've been living in Indianapolis for about a year and a half. As for my handle, it's simply my first initial and last name.

RodKnowlton -- Concord, New Hampshire -- I don't recall where I got mine. When I'm not using my real name, I like to use ArchStanton. It's the name on the grave next to the unmarked grave containing the gold in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

Rofeu -- Rotterdam, The Netherlands -- Handle = LEFT(First_Name, 2) & LEFT(Last_Name, 3); languages: Dutch, English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, plus VBA, SQL, and LotusScript;
education: nothing relevant yet, currently studying
physical sciences; occupation: financial analyst, soon to be MIS Expert; and hobbies: classical piano, reading fantasy, traveling, and creating complex Excel formulae.

rosieb -- Currently live, Reading, UK - 40ish miles west of London. Have lived: Richmond, London; Rugely, Staffs; Chepstow, Wales borders; Newcastle - upon ûTyne; Croydon, Surrey; Canterbury, Kent; Hackney, London; Loughborough, Leics; Reading, Berks. -- Pretty boring, my network login, firstname (well, no-one except my father calls me Rosemary) and first letter of surname.

ROUTERKID1 -- Dallas, Texas -- My name means I like routers and I am known as the kid around the office. I'm 24, but look 16.

rwong -- San Jose, Costa Rica. But I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
