How to change UC Module IP Address

“Changing IP Address on IP Office UC Module”
I found that something as simple as changing an IP Address, is apparently not that simple for an IP office system to handle. So for whatever reason you have to change the IP Address on your IP Office UC module, there is a couple things that need to be configured before the system will work. A little Linux programming will be required on the UC Module to complete this task. The below procedure is provided as is, and was created from a 9.0 IPO system.

1. The UC Module is internally wired to LAN1 ONLY on the IP Office system, so the IP address of the UC Module must be on the same network as LAN1 which is also where your IP Phones should be configured, so configure LAN1 and LAN2 accordingly.
2. Unless you have the time to do a complete reload of the UC Module, you will have to access the UC Module CLI and manually change the IP Address.
3. Connect a USB keyboard and an HDMI monitor to the UC Module and reboot the module. When the login prompt comes up, login with the defaults “root” as the user and “Administrator” as the password.
4. Next key in “ifconfig” to view the current IP Address of “eth0.1” (this will be the address you need to change)
5. Next we need to disable the port, so key in “ifconfig eth0.1 down” (without the quotes of course)
6. Now key in “ifconfig eth0.1 < new IP Address > netmask 255.255.255.0 up” so as an example the command would look like this…
Ifconfig eth0.1 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
7. That’s it, the system has now been updated. Key in “ifconfig” one last time to make sure your new settings are there. Type in “exit” then enter out of the CLI.
8. Next we need to adjust the IP Office system. Login to IP Office Manager
9. On the left column, Click on your System>voicemail tab>voicemail type should be UC Module, if its not, then change it. Also note the Voicemail IP address just below should be your UC Module IP Address. Once finished click Ok.
10. Lastly in the left column again, click on Control Unit> right click on “UC Module” and delete it.
11. Save and reboot the system. The system will automatically reload the UC Module to your system, and configure it with its new settings.
