How to install a modem on a Catalyst 6509

To connect a modem to the console port, place the console port mode
switch in the in position.(The little hole next to the console port) Connect to the port using the RJ-45-to-RJ-45 cable and the RJ-45-to-DB-25 DCE adapter (labeled "Modem").

At this point you would need to know how to operate your modem to get it
to communicate with a standard EIA/TIA-232 port as described here:
