1. Not quite sure what you mean but you can right-click a folder then click Properties and click Customize to change it's appearance if that helps.

2. I think I read somewhere that you have to modify the Kernel32.dll to so this.

No idea on 3!

It's not that easy in XP but there are fixes around to do it.

Download folder addon from here (shareware).

Look for links to fixes here.

What is available in XP as supplied.

Edit Start Button.

Thanks a lot linney, i will try some of the things later
Do you know how to change the screens such as the logon screen or the start up screen where a big xp logo is.
Any reply would be appreciated
Thanks
dan

In Win98 the startup screen and shutdown screens were logo.sys and logow.sys. I am not sure if you can do this in XP. See, the screens were inbedded in IO.SYS in 98 but if you created a bitmap of the right size and put the proper names on them Windows would use them instead, To go back to the original you could just delete or rename your files.

Thanks for your help andlinks it will take a bit longer as my dad's computer is only linked to the net. In windows 98 it was quite simple to change logos so does any one know why they changed it. rewards go out once i tried it and just keep an eye out incase i have any problems
cheers
Dan

NTFS does not use IO.sys, that is a remnant of the old DOS days.
