I'm baffled by this and don't know whether to post here or under Wireless so I'm doing both. A wireless laptop user on our network cannot print fron FileMaker Server. It says there is no printer connected to any port. She is, at the moment our only wireless user, so I have nothing to compare the problem to. She can print with no problems from programs on her computer, including FileMaker. All the wired computers (about 20) can print from FMS. She can access the server and internet through the network with no problem, and all the printers are on the network. What can be causing this problem?
Thanks,
Jill

Hard to say Jill....

Can you 'wired' the laptop to see if the problem is still there ?

When you say: She can print with no problems from programs on her computer, including FileMaker, is this when the printer is hooked up to her computer ?

Not sure, but the problem can be dropped packets and retries. Can you turn the wireless down to the slowest speed ?

Access data is not as package intensive as printing, maybe the wireless speed to too high for your network...
Just guessing now...

The printer icon is grayed out- not available- when she is using FMS. So speed isn't the issue. I haven't checked whether my admin login affects it.

She can print wirelessly from her computer (except for in FMS)- the printers are never connected to it directly.

I'll try to test if connecting her to the network "wired" fixes it, and check whether my login affects it and post again in about an hour.

Jill,

Check the privileges for that user's group - I'm talking about Filemaker, not Windows. The database designer can revoke access to the printing menus and that *MAY* be what has happened to your person.

OK, the problem is even weirder. I can print from her computer using my password in FMS. I can print from my computer using her password in FMS. But I can't print from her computer using her password in FMS. Any ideas where to checkv for a privilege problem?

Try this:

File > Define > Accts & Privs

On the Priv Sets tab highlight the priv set that she belongs to. Choose EDIT. On the right side you should see some checkboxes one will be called "Allow Printing". Make sure this is checked.
