Hello all,

I have a laptop running windows XP service pack 2 with a Belkin PCMCIA (f5d6020) Wireless card connected to a Linkysys 802.11 router.

If i leave my computer on, after a few hours the Belkin signal drops and i lose internet connection. They are only about 25 feet apart. The router is located in the lounge, under the TV next to a Cable box, DVD player and on a metal stand. The laptop is located in the next room, a dry wall seperates.

Is there anyway that i can lock them together so that they never lose signal ? My belkin settings are as follows

mode > Infrastructure
SSID > "My network"
TX Rate > Fully Automatic
PS MOde > **BLANK
Channel > **BLANK + I CANT SELECT ANYTHING
ENCRIPTION > 64 Bit + Password correct

The SSID keeps changing, it appears blank and then i have to keep selecting my network's name again.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks, Shaun

Make sure you have the latest firmware on your AP and the latest software/firmware on your wireless adapter. You could also have an issue with power management on your laptop so make sure your BIOS is current. I had a similar issue several years ago and getting all firmware up to date resolved the issue.

thanks! I've updated everything and so far so good. Aprrieciated. Shaun
