I am developing an vb6 program on a windows 7 computer which has office 2010 on it.

To create an excel spreadsheet i need to reference excel 14 in windows 7

BUT

If i send the program to say an old xp computer (with say office 2003 on it) the excel 14 referenced does not exist (it seems to need eg excel 5.0)

Is there any way of setting up the program distributed to run on windows 7 and xp.. ie different references

hi,

Test the OS and assign version accordingly.

When automating Office programs you need to begin by using only late binding. You also need to avoid features not supported on the oldest version you want to work with.
