We are running Windows NT 4 on a Acer Altos 11000 server, with 30 users and 15 printers using axis print servers, with an ATI graphics card installed.

The problem with the above is that it seems to be constantly freezing - I would say around 3 times a week. The only indication that it is about to freeze is that the system goes incredibly slow and then freezes. By the time this has happened, they have only just logged a call and the system is back up and running.

We look in the Event Viewer which has the usual unexpected shutdown message which doesn't really help.

We have found in an article that display drivers may cause this problem. If this is so, do any of you know anything about this.

Hi, if you have enabled auditing pls try to remove it. and by eny chance you have made any changes to your existing setup before getting this problem??

note:just chk all the even log and let me know if you have and error message other than unexpected shutdown.

rgds
SunilVarma
R.SUNIL@HLCL.COM

Many thanks for replying.

The system went down again today and the users noticed that it was starting to go slow and when trying to save to the network, the PC's were freezing. Rebooted the server and all up and running again. We have an sql database running on the server and also Backup Exec and PC Anywhere. We have made a change to the database which helps it to save quicker. The database file is 300 odd meg and the log file is 200 k. There is nothing within the event viewer to say why this is happening.

But did you enabled your auditing...self faced similar problem some time back...??

Rgds
Sunil Varma
R.SUNIL@HLCL.COM

I really doubt if this a display dirver problem..why can't you applay the latest service pack....bcoz..if there is any file corruption with the system files then this will solve the proble.,..pls try and cnfm...

rgds
sunilvarma
R.SUNIL@HLCL.COM
