I am attempting to install sbs2003 r2 on a fujitsu-siemens primergy 150 s5 machine. the server start cd that came with the hardware does not support sbs2003 r2 and I am waiting for a updated cd from Germany. I have tried installing the os manually and I press F6 to install the raid driver (a driver recommeneded by fujitsu) and when asked if I wish to install windows, I get the message the windows cannot find any hard disks. I previously setup the raid configuration in bios and have confirmed with fujitsu that his is correct.Anyone got any suggestions? I know I could wait for cd from Germany, but the customer is pressing me for the job to be carried out asap.

You set up the array in the BIOS, but what about preparing the drives? Surely you could use the startup CD for plain Windows 2003 to get the drives recognized and then reboot off of the Windows CD and provide your RAID drivers to the Install.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

As far as the drivers are concerned, there are no additional/different drivers for SBS 2003 R2. The same drivers are on all CDs labeled 2003 anything. If you tried providing the drivers but it still didn't recognize the disks, I would suggest you didn't provide the correct drivers. Try again. Verify the controller.

Many thanks for all your replies.I am unable to use the server start cd because I receive the message that media is not the same as selected with the server start cd and will not allow me to continue until the correct media is inserted. There is no option to install sbs 2003 r2. I setup the disks in the bios as a SATA raid 1 with 2 hot spares and this has been confirmed as correct by fujitsu. After selecting the driver on the floppy the process continues until it reaches the install windows screen and I then recieve the message that setup did not detect any hard disks. As I stated earlier, I tried with the driver sent to me from Fujitsu. All the disks show up in the bios so it is safe to assume everything is ok with the disks. Just suppose I will have to wait for the updated server start cd!

So bypass the startup CD and just use the Windows CD to install. Their startup CD is only good for helping to setup the drives anyway.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Cheers for that Mark

After some research, I have found some SATA drivers which I have not seen before, so i`ll give these a go in the new year. The drivers Fujitsu sent me were for SAS and they said these would work, But I am now a little bit suspisous that this not the case.
