Hi there!

I am wondering if there is a way to stop the computer from logging in if "cancel" is clicked in the logon window. I would like to make it more secure. The only other thing I can think of is to upgrade the os.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Howdy:

Win2K or XP will give you that type of security.. You could try checking BIOS to see if there is a boot password you can put on. No password, startup stops at BIOS..

Make the following changes to the registry:

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon]
Value Name: MustBeValidated
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

This will force the users to be validated by windows before it will give them access to the desktop.

Hope this helps... mot98

I just purchased a 2 year old HP Pavillon notebook from a local computer surplus store.

On boot-up it is asking me for a password. Of course this not being my computer I don't have the password and I cannot get pass this screen to do anything.
