When I try to connect to my WebLogic 5.1 app server running on Windows 2000 from my BREW device (ALLTEL Kyocera 3225 running BREW 1.2) via HTTP, I consistently get a stream error if the size of the data being returned is greater than about 1500 bytes. The same request works fine running the app server on Windows NT. I tried enabling (as well as disabling) EnablePMTUDiscovery as well as setting the MTU to very low (500 decimal) as well as several other values all with no success. Any ideas?

NT is going to default to 1500 MTU, so that should be your setting as well.

OK, but my understanding based on sites like:
was that if there were a router with an MTU value less than 1500, then there could be a problem, particularly based on the setting of the EnablePMTUDiscovery and EnablePMTUBHDetect registry values. At any rate, there is clearly some other problem, because I've tried setting the MTU to a varierty of values (including 1500) as well as enabling and disabling the values mentioned above and it still consistently does not work for any of the Windows 2000 machines, whereas I've never had a problem with the identical configuration on the NT machines (and I've confirmed that at the HTTP level the response is byte-for-byte identical, so there must be a problem at the TCP/IP level).

I am not sure the Discovery process is going to help. What I was suggesting was to place a deliberate setting for the MTU on the server as well as the clients.

If the Alacatel allows an MTU enforcement outbound, this should be set as well.
