Hello All,

I have a question regarding Windows 2000 and adding a windows 2003 Server as Backup Domain Controller to the existing Windows 2000 Domain Controller.

Is this possible??
Yesterday i´ve set up a Testenvironment with a Windows 2000 Domain and i´ve tried adding the Windows 2003 Server as Backup Domain Controller.
After answering all questions from "dcpromo", the process ran for a while and suddenly stopped with an errormessage that Windows 2003 Server is not compatible with the Windows 2000 Domain Controller.

Are there any hints how i can solve this problem???
Any help would be appreciatet.

Thanks in advance and Kind Regards

You are confusing your terminology for a start. BDC's went out with NT4. All W200x DC's are equal, although some are more equal than others.

What you have not done is run Forestprep and ADPrep before trying to add the W2003 server.

Thanks.
The Problem was that i didn´t run the commands "Forestprep & Adprep".
Now everything works like a charme
