In PS 7.0 I open a picture and see the window control line on top where I can Minimize, Maximize or Close the picture.

If I minimize the picture then later maximize the picture, the control line is gone.

Without re-opening the pic, how do I get the control line back?

Control line???

Do you mean the options palette? WINDOW > OPTIONS

Is that what you mean?

mscallisto,

Can you minimize the picture again to get the control line back, or is that the control that is missing. If it is, I don't have an answer for you but I can tell you that I have the same problem. From time to time I lose control of the window when I maximize it, the only way I can get it back is to minimize Photoshop, this gives me back control of the picture then I maximize photoshop again.

I'm sure I wasn't as specific as I should have been.

I open a picture
File > Open > pick a picture

On the screen I see the picture with "window controls line" on top that displays the picture name and extension along with some stats like @ 100% (RGB) plus the three small square controls to min/max/close the window, like you see on your browser window or excel window etc.

If I click the small box with the _ on the bottom, the picture minimizes to the bottom of my PShop window, waiting to be closed or maximized.

If I maximize it, that heading line with the picture name and extension along with the @ 100% (RGB) plus the three small square controls to min/max/close the window are no longer there.

Mscallisto,

This is the same problem I have, but it's not consistant, works fine most of the time. Does this happen to you all the time? I've always assumed it was a bug in Widows/Photoshop.

Actually it never happen in 5.5 and only started recently in 7.0, although I've only had 7.0 for 3 months.

A system re-boot didn't seem to help.

hmmmmm,

Have either of you accidentally hit "F" for fullscreen mode.

That will help you get your window size non maximized to move it around. After you maximize hit "F" 3 times and it will first make a partially full screen, second time will turn the background black, third will revert to the original mode.

Try that out and see if that works for you.

Hope this helps!
