I've got performance issues usng RAS in WIN2K.

The client laptop dialing is running WIN2K and is dialing in using an analogue line. When the profile loads, performance on the laptop grinds to a halt.

The laptop uses a simple batch script to map several network drives but other than that, nothing else is set to run.

There are no error messages on either the server or laptop.

Are you dialing in from the CTL-ALT-DEL prompt or after you've logged on to the laptop locally?

Have you checked the laptops event log?

Try unmapping or disabling the network shares.

Update your modem drivers.

Dial into a different RAS and check performance.

I'm curious about your awnser to brontosaurus, but I have seen batch files cause problems at startup. This had nothing to do with rass, but I guess I'd remove the batch file temporarily and try it. Also, I have a phone line next to my desktop for testing. Maybe you could get the clients laptop, set it up in house, dial up while it's in house. Just easier to work on. Also try logging on as an admin account. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
