Hi Friends

I want to know that if in a networked scenario I place all my executables, and class libraries at a shared location on my application server, will it cause performace problem ? It should be noted that except main exe all other executables are used internally via set procedure to command and classes from all class libraries are added at runtime on forms or otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

See my note on thread184-92375
If it is LAN it will not be any major hurdle.
When an application calls another application, the entire application is first ported to the workstation memory/cache and then executed. This adds the network traffic. But given the current minimum 100 speed cables or fibre optics network cables, this will not be a problem.

The same thing happens when an SQL command is issued from the VFP on a DBF in a file server.. the data is fully read thru the network cable..

Look at the DATA server.. the technology is that, the SQL statement is passed on to the server and the relevant data alone is traced back to the work station. This is what adds speed to the WAN networks and DATA servers combination.

Hope the idea is explained here for you to decide.
