why does java flicker when using mouse scroll wheel?

Hello,

I've noticed that when viewing java applets, they flicker if I scroll down a page using the scroll wheel on my mouse but they do not flicker when I scroll using the scroll bar on internet explorer.

The applets I am viewing are all double buffered and supposedly flicker free (well, they are flicker free as long as I don't scroll with the scroll wheel).

So, what's going on?

I think the applet repaint(redraw) too frequently and make it flicker although double buffer is being used.
It may redraw on every mouse wheel scroll I guest.
