Weird behavior with charts

I have a report with a chart. The chart has a 'link-field' which is currently in the report header. My report is working and the charts appear fine.

Hovever, I'd like this field to be in a group header. When I move this control from the report header to the group header, my charts no longer appear. This is the only change I made.
Can anyone explain this?

Another question, my chart is in a group footer and always forces a new page since its so big, this makes the group header repeat on the next page - which I dont want - but how to prevent it?

If the chart has the Link Master and Link Child properties set, what is that value in your group header?
Is this another chart in the group footer or are you must moving the same chart around?

The link field is set to a column (department) that is in every row returned by the query.

The department header is where I placed the control containing this column - and this is what caused the chart to not display. When I move this control to the report header, the chart displays. No other changes were made.
I tried putting the control in both the report header and the department header and in that case the chart does display.

The chart itself is in the department footer.
