I have been asked to setup an alias to a website on a system that is running Redhat 8. The goal is for users to be able to type the short name of the website in their browser as opposed to having to bookmark it or type the entire This site is accessed from our Intranet by company employees. Should this be setup as a virtual IP on the redhat box? How would I go about doing this?
 
It looks like I have answered my own question. The webserver is listening on port 8786. I think that changing the web server config file to port 80 and restarting the web server will allow users to access the site by It is the only web server running on the box. I can then create a more functional CNAME in DNS that can be used to access the web server.
