Waiting for EOD to complete...

Aloha 5.3xx quite frequently has terminals waiting for eod to complete. After deleting the EOD marker file in data the terminals have problems "reading data file" usually itm.dbf. After deleting the trans.log from data and performing a Refresh all is ok. Does anyone know what may be causing the hangup? There is always a folder already created for the past DOB and Done30 and gnddbf30.xxx exist.

All checkpoints have a result of 1. The debouts look normal with this exception--"lookup_stat_periodtype: period 1 tips id 1 not in list" I think this is common though. This is not just one site. Seems like many 5.3 sites?

Sometimes it's easier to go around the problem, rather then barrel through it.

This is what I've done to dodge some of those nasty database problems in the past. Go to a dated subdirectory a few days before this problem started. Copy all of the contents, except the Trans.log to the newdata directory (yes, you'll be grabbing a few files that don't need to be there, but it wont hurt anything). Change the system date either through the Aloha interface or by editing the Aloha.ini directly. And then, go into the DATA folder, and delete the trans.log (needless to say, best to do this before you open, to minimize hassles-you can always go back and edit the times for any employees clocked in, mostly you want to do it before any sales take place).

Lastly, refresh the system, and then play the waiting game to see if the problem returns.
