I recently added a Belkin router to my computer. When installing the software a message pop up wanting prompting me for my W98se cd, which I could not locate. I opted for cancel and rebooted. I get an error upon start up saying that there is a missing file refering to "vserver.vxd". I un/installed software but this time it doesn't prompt for cd. but I still get error. The only problem I have is that my computers do not see each other through network neighbrhood. please help.

If the cab files have been loaded, you should have no problems. The files should be in the directory c:\windows\options\cabs. If not there, do a search for that file (it's usually in cab 10 or 11 in the cabs directory I believe). If not, the file will fit on a floppy, you can download it from a friends computer running the same OS.

Hope this helps,
WMH

i have never seen a directory like this. i do have a cab file, but the only thing in there is other drivers. as well, i am running w98se as well on the other computer and still see nothing. Nothing under explore or find.

If you found no directory for the cab files and nothing came up in the file find, they are not on your system. You will need to have someone either loan you their CD, put it on a floppy for you or send it to you in an E-mail. As I said, it's a small file. If you have an old @Home installation CD, I do believe the file you need is on it.

Hope this helps,
WMH

You could try directing it to the windows\system folder, but I would say that the vserver.vxd file is probably the first of several files that it will require. You would probably be better off trying to locate a win98 cd.

i found the w98cd. how do i find files and install. thanks

As mentioned before. Already did.
