New set of DID's (starts @ 6XXX). Operator unable to send calls to 6XXX extension voice mail. Gets message "you have chosen an invalid extension number."

I have all the sta and voice mail already programed into the switch. However when the front desk operator gets a call and wants to place the incoming call to the anyone in ext 6XXX vm get a message that it is invalid. Also the operator does not have to enter the whole digits just by pressing the number 6 right away she get the invalid message.

Hope I was clear enough.

BTW the sta and vm all work fine.

Use the 'change dial-plan analysis' command and make certain that the digit sequence is accounted for as a call type 'ext'

Thanks for the reply:

I get this message when trying to enter the command:

change dial-plan analysis

"dial-plan" is an invalid entry

I can however enter ch dialplan which opens up dialplan record.

6800 - 6899 are the only ranges you can use unless you change that table.

If the operator is getting some kind of message that 6 is invalid, my only guess is that it's coming from an auto-attendant in Audix or Modular messaging that does not have the digit 6 set up correctly in the auto-attendnat(caller app) programming.

Check the auto-attendant the Operator is calling into when attempting to transfer a caller to a voicemail box.

thanks rockspop how can I check that? What is the commands for it. Appreciate your help on this.

What voicemail platform do you have and do you know how to log into it?

List your auto-attendants.

list attendant is the command.

Then look for the obvious auto-attendant and check the programming on the third page of that mailbox by using the command :

display subscriber XXXX

look at the programming for the digit six on the third page. Post the display here if you can. If six is blank, put an (e) there for "any valid extension" starting with 6. Remember to use your CHOICES button and the HELP button. Hopefully this should do it for you.

There is already an e in front of 6: If I did this right?

On the voice mail make sure that 6xxx is assigned as a valid extension for the machine.

"Change machine" or via the web interfaces depending on which platform it is.

If the Audix is IA 770 or CMM.

Check "change public-numbering unknown" on the ACM.
make sure you have an entry for the correct number of digits in the extension number. (in your case 4 digits starting 6) witht the trunk for Audix specified.

Speak softly and carry a big switch

it is already?

Let's go back to the beginning here and start over. How about DID calls that do not get directly answered? Do they cover properly and go to the respective mailboxes and it's just calls from the operator?

How EXACTLY does the Operator transfer the calls?

Operator hits transfer,
Operator presses programmed VM Direct Auto-Att button,
Auto-att answers and prompts for extension
Operator hits 6 and gets notified digit is invalid.

I have always had to build a mailbox for that extension before it would allow for transfers from Audix, regardless of whether the mailbox is needed, this is a quick fix.

Hi Rockspop I agree.

Here is how the receptionist transfers to an ext and BTW the 8xxx dids work fine.

Picks up the phone clicks on start enters the ext and then click on the release button. However as soon as she presses 6 the phone it says it is an invalid option. Also for VMB start-->vmb-->ext then #--> release same thing here as soon she presses 6 it says it is an invalid #

thanks for your help.

Tony

Use the command

list trace attendant 1

or

list trace station XXXX [if you use other than an att console]

post your results.

And how does the phone say it's invalid? Where does the voice come from? Who's voice is it?
