Is that the windows updates you supposed to turn off on VM servers? I suggest you do as they only end up causing havoc and are rarely required for such things that aren't used for web browsing etc
I cannot tell a security oriented client that they need to turn off windows updates unfortunately. We perform all windows updates on our voicemail and xima servers here and do not have these issues.
It appears that the customer reported the wrong information to start. This is not happening only when they restart the server. This is occurring intermittently and to fix the issue, the client restarts the service. It appears to be happening randomly. Since the service is not actually stopping, there are no events recorded in event viewer.
I have seen Voicemail pro fail multiple times as people have restarted the server due to 'windows' updates however when the Server restarts it will also apply any updates for firewalls and anti virus software and these are notorious in blocking ports...
Windows Update = pure evil if not rolled out in a proper fashion. A real security conscious customer would use WSUS to deploy to lab kit first and then only deploying appropriate updates to workstations once the lab kit passes the breakage test. Your VM Pro machine should be excluded from their schedule.
