Hi,
We just installed a voicegate ICS 4 port (Win2k version), in our office. We have a Norstar Meridian phone system (DR5).

I've got the system running and doing most of what we need, I just have a question related to modifying the VG, it's a silly issue really, some people just don't like the voice for the built in messages. The phone system itself is not of consequence for this.

The built in messages in the VG, like the ones asking users to enter their passwords, are they changable? We can record our own company greetings and custom menu's and the like, but these built in ones I don't see a way to change. We'd like it so I can record the messages myself, asking a new user to state their name, record their greeting, etc.. Part of the reason is some of the stock prompts are not done well, like it asks you to say your name or record your greeting, but does not tell you to press pound when done, causing a whole lot of dead air after a persons name, or the users thinks the line is dead and hangs up. These are not prompts customers hear when calling in, just ones employee's hear.

I looked for the audio files themselves but don't see anything (like a folder full of WAV files) that I can edit. I think the audio files are these .SPC files, but I can't find a player to work with them.

Possible or do we just live with "her" voice?

The phone system has nothing to do with this, would be the same running on a norstar or Meridian, the question is the voicegate.

Do a search on Voice Gate on this site there are a few people running them here.

I realize not all of us have Internet access here. I drove up to the Web Cafe and did this Google search, then ran back home to make sure I could beat johnpoole.

Here's what I did:

The results included this site - a lot of SPC players - apparently is is more common than you'd figure... might lead to some converters too. Here is the link

GHTROUT, I did try downloading a couple spc players a couple days ago, but none of them played these files. It seems Nintendo also used .spc for their file type on their console systems, which is what all those players are for.

You might give Voicegate a call. I know that they used to do custom voice prompts as an option for those who wanted something different and don't mind paying for it.
