using SAN with centralized database. Backups work fine with all detail successfully merged into database. Randomly each day, all detail will disappear from the database. This corresponds with a series of activity log entries that say "Begin Cleaning Database", and "End Cleaning Database". I can re-merge the tapes without problem, but the database detail will disappear after a while when the "Begin Cleaning Database" messages re-appear.

I've done all the database maintenance procedures. Have also tried Initializing the DB a couple times....but it seems to be re-initializing itself at random times. Also tried disabling all pruning.

Any Ideas?

Sounds like the DB Pruning job may be set to 1 or zero days. Someone may have set that to keep the size of the database to a minimum. The Pruning job is modifed through the Server Admin program. By default it is set at thirty days. Every record in the database is ~100kb (that is the last # I remember). When records are pruned out, that space can be reused which is why someone may have set it real low.

Good Luck.
