Hi there,
so i got this IBM Netfinity 4500R rackmount server with dual-P3 733 (XP Pro) and a Gig of RAM... I've been running it through a built-in S2 video card for about a year just fine and then it started doing funny things... After that i switched to an ATI 128Pro outputting to my TV, but that didnt solve the issue - same problem, read on:

BG Info: When i turn the machine off the power supplies are designed to keep the fans running for some reason, so i usually just turn the power strip off after using the shut down command - that manually turns the power supplies off and their fans stop making noise... worked fine for a while

Well, as of recent, when i power the computer back on, during the initial startup it only shows dark screen - no BIOS info or anything... I can hear it make a "beep" when windows is supposed to start after bios, but thats about it... If i then push the Restart button, it restarts fine, shows IBM BIOS etc...

i am assuming that its not windows, rather a hardware problem of some sort - any ideas???

Go into BIOS, and disable 'Quick Start', Quick Boot', or similar, and save the change.

it actually was "quick keyboard" believe it or not :)

You're welcome.
Glad to hear that you fixed things, and thanks for posting back.

well....
actually let me change my mind now -it didn't really fix it. Now that I think about it, the problem started happening when I updated Bios last time, so that could be it. Still Wonder which setting does it... It's a standard IBM ServeRAID Bios for Netfinity

Everything seems to work fine, I can use KB to log-in (blindly) -and can access 100% functioning computer remotely... Video only shows up after a restart ...
