Verify Tape Cleaning

Hello all,

I am running ARCServe 2000 Advanced Edition - SP3 on a Windows 2000 server with the Tape Library Option installed. I have set up the last slot in my tape library to be the tape cleaning slot, and this is recognized by AS. I also have set up a tape cleaning operation to be performed after every 50 hours of service. However, I have checked the activity log and can see no record of the tape cleaning operation ever being performed. Is there some other place I should be looking for this information, or is there some other way to verify that the cleaning operation is being run (or not run, as the case may be)?

I would check the Tape Library. I have a similar setup. We use an Overland LXB with 2 DLT 8000 drives. The library itself has upgradeable firmware which, while cumbersome, allows you to manage the library independent of the OS or backup software. You have to use the buttons on the front to manuever (sp?) through the hardware's "system".

Anyhow, with MY library unit, I can actually drill down within the menu system and find out how many times a drive was cleaned, but it won't tell me WHEN the last cleaning occured. If your system has this, maybe you can monitor to see if this number is incrementing over time?

There alot of other info I can get from the unit, but again, it can get cumbersome. Hope this helps.
