Out of state user disjoined the domain on his laptop. We used to have them use dialup to authenticate back to the domain. When the connection is established and the unit is trying to authenticate he gets this message

System cannot log you on now because the domain XXXXX is not available

I have been working to find a solution for this. I built another server to be the RAS still have the same issue any idea how to fix it? Hate to ask the user to send the laptop in so I can join it to the domain.

When users do stupid things, sometimes they have to be inconvenienced by sending their hardware back to have it reconfigured. They did not do this by accident, they were mucking around where they should not have been.

Is sounds like the DHCP setting for DNS given to the dialup client is incorrect. Try NSLOOKUP from the laptop to the DNS server given through DHCP, and I bet there is no response.

Users are dumb - doesn't mean we need to match them.
