Our enterprise is considering SAP's Accelerated methodology for its ERP software - please help with the following questions.
1. ERP software deployment will consume many of the most knowledgeable staff out our firm for months, possibly years.
How will personnel resources be acquired and how can the impact on the rest of the firm's operation be minimized.
2. How can you tell whether the firm's culture and its personnel are ready for the adjuctment to the ERP software. How can the firm prepare staff for the change that is coming?
3. I have been told that the focus for ERP deployment must be on people and processes - why?
Thanks for any help or references that can be provided [sig][/sig]

ERP implementations can drain the resources, because you'll need the best people's input for SAP to be a success. That is one of the reasons why some companies choose to take have a long implementation time, the down side to a long install time is levels of frustration and cost tend to rise. Many of the issues come from the integration of legacy systems into SAP. Flexibility in any ERP data structure is rare. My company has worked with SAP implementations with Lockhead Martin and others and we've been able to reduce he implementation time by over 50% or more because we can get your legacy data into SAP faster quicker and more accurately than conversion programming efforts. SAP if implemented properly can make your company more competitive, and more cost effective, however getting there sometimes can kill the company. If you have a good SAP rep that person should be able to address some of your concerns. Matthew Dowd
