Using a link on php page to launch app on hard drive

Greetings,

I am putting together a simple site for my team and would like to know how to have a link on the page which will launch the app from the persons HDD.

We all have the same app (putty.exe) installed in teh same folder on all our machines. I would like putty.exe to be launched when someone clicks on the link in the page.

Is this possible? currently we have putty in c:\putty\putty.exe

Any help is appreciated.
