Hello

As version 9 is supposed to be released today does anyone know if I can do the following.

I need to build the system today in the office and will have the box on 8.1 and I will want to install the system next week on V9. Does the system lock down its firmware when the first call has been made or will I need an upgrade license if I build the system on 8.1?

Cheers

Bullshit, who is telling you that?

But you still have 90 days in where you can upgrade so you will have time enough.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I heard that the release is delayed (oh wonder :)) until mid October to fix more issues they found.

I upgraded our inhouse system last weekend which supposed to be the GA candidate.
They are pushing the trial memebr to upgrade to this release ASAP to be sure that certain bugs are solved or not.
The longer this takes the longer GA is not happening :)
I rather seeing the GA date delayed then bugs.

R4.0 is all I say [machinegun]

Ahh the 4.0.3 which was replaced by 4.0.5 very soon :)

I was looking through a document on the Partner portal website for V9 and it said the 23rd in there and just done a live chat with Avaya Support and they said it will be some time today.

I cant remember a time where Avaya has ever released the new version of software on the day they said.

I was told that the 90 days had now gone as part of release 8.1 52.

The R9 release doc is vague however I think it is stating no entitlement period!

Entitlement Period
Effective April 19, 2012, the IP Office entitlement policy was updated and all prior entitlements to an IP Office upgrade are superseded. Prior to this date, the IP Office system could be upgraded to the latest release of IP Office software during a 90 day Entitlement period and the customer could move to the latest release without purchasing an upgrade license. However, all customers must now purchase an upgrade license to upgrade to R8.1 or later.

This is from the installation document:

IP Office Release 8.0(46), IP Office Release 8.1(52) and higher Systems installed with firmware 8.0(46) or 8.1(52) have no entitlement period after their first call. For those
systems, even if in their first 90 day period, any subsequent upgrade to a higher major or minor release will require a software upgrade licence to be added to the system.

if you buy the IPOSS then you should get the upgrade licenses as part of that.

Dave is right, the 90 days grace period had gone with the 8.1.52.

I forgot that :)
then install 8.1.43 and do not make a first call before that.
And believe me, they won't release it today and if they do then be brave and run 9.0 :)

In PLDS you can find IPOAdminLite-9.0.10.573 for the Branch Gateway...

I can never find anything in PLDS via search, have to go through the support website

IPOSS is perfect if you want to upgrade, almost the same price as the upgrade license but you buy a years worth of hardware insurance

Can you apply an IPOSS to an old system or does it have to be a new system?

OP, you are already too late, starting a system on anything higher than 8.0.44 removes the 90 day entitlement and so you will need a R9 upgrade licence :)

Andy, 8.1.43 does work too.

Yeah, couldn't remember the 8.1 that ran parallel at that time :)

SD cards are send worth that release so it should not be a problem.

I just took a brand new system out of the box running 8.1(63). Upgraded it to 9.0 without incident, and I'm not receiving the dreaded "No license available" message on the phones.
