I currently have a server running Server 2003 Standard and am trying to upgrade to Server 2003 R2 standard. It seems to go through the process and when it is finished it is still version Server 2003 standard. The R2 upgrade didn't take. Can anyone help?

I purchased a license with our volume licensing agreement. The cd has written on it "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 standard edition. I get no errors. The upgrade process runs all the way through, when it is complete I view the computer properties and it is still the old version. I know this cd works because I used it on a previous server and used our Volume License Product Key.

did you install disc 2? Everything that makes R2 R2 is on the second disc.

Make sure you use a R2 Key.

R2 is actually 2003 with what would be considered a service pack. The second cd is what changes it to R2 from 2003.

The installation never prompted me to put it in. I will try that.
