Hi Guys,

We are upgrading the firmware of our server edition primary server and all 4 expansion systems, is there steps then we can follow.

Which one we need to upgrade first? can we do the upgrade at the same time to all sites?

This is for from R9 to R11.

Thanks,

Login to 7070.
Upload ISO.
Apply to SE.
Let it upgrade.
Apply to Expansions.
Let them upgrade.

It's all in the Knowledgebase fella.

Log into 7070, upload the iso on the solutions page.

Upgrade Primary,
once it's rebooted upgrade Secondary.
Once that's done upgrade any other expansions.

Edit : Pepp beat me to it :)

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Do I need to upload the upgrade license first to all systems including primary server before performing the upgrade?

Thanks Pepp77,

So the upgrade license can be added after the upgrade?

You can do it before or after, but if you're upgrading from R9 the Host ID will probably change.
Never WebLM generates Host IDs differently.

If you are taking an SE from 9 to 11, make sure you take it to 10 (or 10.1) first or else you're gonna have a bad time.

Thanks guys, where can I download the ISO file?
Can the upgrade be done from the IP office manager like upgrading the standalone system?

Seems we need to upgrade steps by steps from R9.1 to 10.1 and then to R11. Just wondering where we can obtain the ISO files to upload?

And also, Can the upgrade be done from the IP office manager like upgrading the standalone system?

Hi Guys,

The size of the ISO file is 3.64GB. Is this the actual size also that is transferred when upgrading the expansion systems?

Just want to know so we know how much time to allocate per site per expansion system.

No. Upgrade of an expansion needs about 30min. Pretty much of the ISO is CentOS and the RPM files for the server. Only a few hundred MB are transferred to the expansion.

Thanks Derfloh,

One more concern is the downtime. As we are adding the license first before performing the upgrade, how much time the downtime are we expecting including the reboot?

I believe when we added the upgrade license while on R9.1 and then perform the upgrade to r10, the phone becomes unlicensed until the upgrade is completed?

Guys, after the upgrade, the primary server is no longer giving ip address to the phones.

The primary server is setup as DHCP.

Please advise.

What is the phone doing?

Did anything else change network wise? Firewall/Switch upgrades?

Can you static the phone so it pulls the correct information?
