This message was originally at thread689-1343551: The solution I found was that I had managed to choose a COS of 13 for this phone in question. COS 13 is a supervised box and that is what was giving the tone before a person spoke. I changed to a COS of 10 and voila no more problem. Note to self, don't use COS's you don't know what they do.

Fortunately I found this solution several months ago, unfortunately I never updated until now.

Thanks to all who months ago gave great suggestions.

When I first started my consulting/programming business, I decided not to fool around with the COS on "REGULAR" mail boxes, and just use COS 10 for EVERYBODY.

That way, if they ever want OUTCALLING, I can just make it happen.

I have never had to change the COS for anyone after making that decision. (That is, I have NEVER had a Hard Drive fill up 'cause everyone had a 60 Minute Mail Box.)

Of course, AA & Transfer only extensions were not included in that decision.

I thought supervised for some reason meant that if a person was transferred to this box, that they could then transfer to another. Or that if they were transferred and for some reason the extension wasn't available that they would bounce back to the attendant.

I was wrong obviously, I guess it was the result of late night sleepy thinking.

It's nice to know using COS 10 is common, I was worried someone might say "why are you using that?" I've only got 10 VM boxes so I guess I shouldn't worry about filling the drive then.

Thanks again to you and the other "regular's" on this forum. You guys are a big help to us small timers.
