Unable to delete emails

Greeting,
I have a user that is having an issue deleting emails after opening them. Laptop user, Windows XP SP2, Lotus Notes 6.5.3. After hitting the delete button a message appears stating "Cannot remove Notes Document when instantiated by NotesUIDocument". After clicking OK to this message it opens the next email and leaves the email he attempted to delete in his mailfile databse. Any help would be appreciated.

We actually are using a customized design. The design has Rightfax features incorporated into it.
