So... here's the scenario.

I have DID numbers... for example, xxx-1047 rings to my extension. After 20 seconds of no answer, it goes to my voicemail. That part is fine.

However... the bosses want "One voicemail box" for phones; cell phones and desk phones.

So, I have the cell phones B/NA back to the desk phone. The problem with that is, 4-5 rings on the cell phone, then another 4-5 rings on the desk phone before voicemail picks up.

SO.... I have some more DID numbers... I was thinking that if I could have a DID ring DIRECTLY to someone's voicemail, that would solve the issue with the delay from the cell phones.

So, for example... someone dials xxx-1047, and it goes to my desk phone, 4 rings --> Voicemail. OK.

Someone dials a cell phone xxx-7162 4 rings, forwards to xxx-2047 (for example) --> Straight to the voicemail box for 1047 (without ringing the phone).

I've been playing with this, trying to get things working properly. I've played with the DID translations, trying to forward it to 10478 (1047 + 8 for direct to voicemail) no joy.... I've tried the Call Forward All settings for 2047 --> 10478, and to 333PP1047, 333PP10478 (just goes to the main greeting, not to my box).

So, the long and the short of it is this....

Given 2 DID numbers... one needs to ring the phone then go to voicemail (that works)... the second DID number needs to go directly the the voicemail box for the first DID number without ringing anywhere.

I have an SV8100 with a UM8000 8-port voicemail.

TIA!

Make the second DID number ring to a virtual extension that is all call forwarded to voicemail. Then in the voicemail make a transaction box for the virtual extension with the owner being the first DID number. Then copy the owners greeting to the virtual transaction box and have it take a message. The message will land in the owners mail.

That you Mike? I didn't realize you were still on here. :)

That's a working solution, unless they change their voicemail message.... but that will work for now.

Hi i do not know if this will work for the UM8000 but it works for the InMail card
set the did routing table to the following
target 1 = xxxx@yyyy (xxxx is the cell extension and yyyy is the desk phone )
set transfer operation mode to B/NA
set transfer target to the department group of the UM8000 if this was group 64
enter 264 in the target field or you could set it to 102 which sends the call to the default voicemail on the system
there is no need to set a call forward on the cell phone.

Sorry just read the post again

set did target 1 to just @yyyy and the rest as the 1st post this will send the call to the mail box of yyyy

Interesting... I will try that as an experiment, and see if it fixes the need to have t-boxes.

Well, setting the DID translation to @1047 (my extension) didn't work.

HOWEVER....

Setting the DID translation to 333@1047 (voicemail hunt first) DID work. how cool is that?
