So... here's the scenario.
I have DID numbers... for example, xxx-1047 rings to my extension. After 20 seconds of no answer, it goes to my voicemail. That part is fine.
However... the bosses want "One voicemail box" for phones; cell phones and desk phones.
So, I have the cell phones B/NA back to the desk phone. The problem with that is, 4-5 rings on the cell phone, then another 4-5 rings on the desk phone before voicemail picks up.
SO.... I have some more DID numbers... I was thinking that if I could have a DID ring DIRECTLY to someone's voicemail, that would solve the issue with the delay from the cell phones.
So, for example... someone dials xxx-1047, and it goes to my desk phone, 4 rings --> Voicemail. OK.
Someone dials a cell phone xxx-7162 4 rings, forwards to xxx-2047 (for example) --> Straight to the voicemail box for 1047 (without ringing the phone).
I've been playing with this, trying to get things working properly. I've played with the DID translations, trying to forward it to 10478 (1047 + 8 for direct to voicemail) no joy.... I've tried the Call Forward All settings for 2047 --> 10478, and to 333PP1047, 333PP10478 (just goes to the main greeting, not to my box).
So, the long and the short of it is this....
Given 2 DID numbers... one needs to ring the phone then go to voicemail (that works)... the second DID number needs to go directly the the voicemail box for the first DID number without ringing anywhere.
I have an SV8100 with a UM8000 8-port voicemail.
TIA!
Just my 2¢
