Hi Guys,

This is my debut day in this Forum.
I'm facing one problem while trying to refresh PowerCubes.
I opened the *.mdl file and tried to create PowerCubes from the model, then I came across the following errors :-

After the first attempt I got this error message:
(TR 1901) Powerplay cant read salesinventory cube (Bitmap) in C:\cognos\salesinventory.mdc (It ran to the 10th data source out of 11)

and after the second attempt got this message:
(TR1901) MDC (49): could not save file (Bitmap) in c:\cognos\salesinventory.mdc. (Again it ran to the 10th source stage).

I've tried to delete the existing PowerCube from the C:\Cognos folder and recreate the same but with no luck.

Can somebody please HELP me out, as I'm in a deep soup.

Expectantly Yours...

I do not know if you have access to the Cognos knowledgebase. If so you can search for this error number. I got the following explanation for your error from cognos base:

------------------------------------------------------
This error can have several origins. Try the following one after the other :

1. Check the ReadCacheSize and WriteCacheSize parameters in cognos/cer1.ini file. If they have been modified, set them both back to 16384 and start the cube generation again.

2. Another cause can be a lack of temporary free space. On your machine, look for local partitions that have the biggest free space available. Change the environment variables TEMP and TMP and all the entries Temporary= in the file cer1.ini to make them point to the same temporary folder on this partition. Start a defrag on this partition. Never use a network volume for temporary folders. (For information on setting up a temporary environment read KB document 92217)

3. Finally this can be due to the fact that you are trying to generate the cube on a network driver and a network failure occurred during the process.
----------------------------------------------

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Boss,

The second solution worked. I've changed only the Temporary= in the cer1.ini file and this solved the problem.

I would be most grateful, if you please answer two queries which has borne in my mind in this process.

1. From where can I change the environment variables TEMP and TMP as you have mentioned in the 2nd solution? (I could not find in cer1.ini file)

2. If this problem occurs once again, do I have to follow the same process and change the Temporary= to somewhere else in the Local drive? (Because this will exhaust all free drives in the PC after some iterations.)
OR
Delete all the files from the current Temporary folder location to free up some space?

Thanks once again for you Help,
Best Regards,
Dipten
