Hey all,

I'm looking for a way to track printer use. I have a server set up with all my printers, and my users map the printers they need...

I was trying to use print auditing in Windows, but it doesn't give me an indication of file size or number of pages. I'm looking for a way to find out who's printing the most, and I can see it in the event logs (but only for 1 job at a time). The problem is that the summary view doesn't show this info. Any idea where I might get it?

Export the event log to CSV and then analyze it with another package or summary information. You could also store your print jobs in the queue until you delete them then you could see everything being submitted but this is going to eat up your hard drive and require constant management.

I saw that as an option, but the export doesn't include the filename or file size of the print job. In order to find out where our paper is going, I need to know these things.

Is there any way to alter what gets exported from the event log, or am I stuck looking for 3rd-party software?

jakob,

I think that's the very thing I needed. Have a star for a great link!
