Adding a new person soon, and handing off my toner to them to get myself a new one. Any suggestions on upgrading from the standard toners to the wire map testers, etc., etc. I am considering an all in one solution if I can get toner into somehting with more capabilities, coming from you guys field recomendations. Model numbers, and sopecific beneftis would be helpful.

Thanks guys. Wiring I do is from co-ax to cat 6, and anyhitng in between.

From a telephone techs perspective, i don't suggest an all in one solution. Those tend to be problematic and dont really work too well in those "rats nest" situations. I personally like anything made by Progressive and Ideal.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

I may need a wire map verifying unit so I am considering something that can do tone, wiremap, and the like.

C&P from General since the discussion seems to be happening here

I have a couple of AINES 240ds

but since I got this progressive greenlee kit its all I use

I can use my ts25d for tone but I have only used ti occasionally

I use the Seimons STM8 when I need to tone data lines

I like to have more than one tool for the job and then use what best fits the application

For general wire mapping, basic toning, etc, I use a LAN Rover from Test-Um.

It is simple, inexpensive, and does wire map, cable length, tone (select pairs). Can't beat it to quickly check a set of cables that were just run and terminated. I won't certify a cable, but for that I use a higher end device.

I like the looks of that Test-um. Ima get me one. Plus, the name sounds kinda like Steak-Umms. I don't need certifying generally (in house cabling 100%). It's just for me - some dill-weed broke my old testers so I gotta get new ones anyway.

Microscanner Pro for tone, wiremap, TDR, hub flash and more.

Tempo (Progressive) 200FP for a probe.

Tough combo to beat!
