• Obtain a static IP address.
• Determine the best slot for the 2nd VAL board.
For maximum diversity & redundancy do not place them in:
• The same cabinet
• The same Port Network
• The same carrier
• Install the LAN Adapter on the back of the carrier on the slot selected.
• Connect a CAT-5 cable between the LAN Adapter and the IP switch.
• Install the TN2501 board.
• Define a new node-name for the added VAL board using the IP address obtained (change node-name ip).
• Add the VAL board to the IP-Interfaces form (change ip-interface).
• Identify an available link for the Data Module (display communication-interface links).
• Select an available extension for the Data Module.
• Add Data Module xxxx, type 'ethernet', link x, port XXYZZ33 (cabinet/carrier/slot/port 33).
• Status the link to make sure that it's connected (status link x).
• Verify the LAN settings agree with the VAL board (get ethernet XXYZZ) (cabinet/carrier/slot).
