This is a weird one - any help is appreciated.

I have powerpoint 2007 with all office updates.

I think this is a bug but not sure. The person claims it was fixed at one point but now randomly happens.

When creating a textbox, the person will start typing, then presses space and the text jumps to a bigger font?

I was able to replicate this issue by changing the font after typing in a textbox, then erasing all text in the box, then start typing again...once I start typing, the font increases since the text was increased inside the box. However, 2 people told me it happens without even changing the font inside the text box. This is so weird!

The person claims even on new texboxes this happens randomly.

In the powerpoint settings: proofing, autocorrect options, apply as you type, both autofit title text to placeholder is unchecked and autofit body text to placeholder is unchecked.

Has anyone seen this behavior? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

This is called AutoFit and it is PowerPoint's default behavior in 2007 to prevent text from expanding outside the text box you're entering in.

To fix: Go to the Master Slide. Right click on the line surrounding the text box and select Format Shape. Click on the Text Box category and select Do Not AutoFit.

Hey BlueHorizon, thanks for the reply...I still have a question....

I had played around with that setting, forgot to mention that on my original post.

Here is what I'm seeing:

When I have a text box that font increases, I make sure
format shape-textbox- is set to No Fill. Even though it's set to no fill, I can still type in the box, increase the font, then erase the text inside the box and start typing again. Once I hit space while typing, the font increases.

It seems like sometimes the font stays the same and sometimes the font increases...

Maybe I'm missing something here. I work in IT so this is really frustrating that I can't give the user a real answer on why this is happening....I've almost given up on this.

Any further suggestions? Thank you !!!!!
