I'm new to web design and GoLive. I am having problems with my text. When I insert a text box onto my website and type text, it seems to be double spacing everything. It skips a line everytime I hit "enter". Is there a setting for this? I can't find one...

Please help.

Hitting enter ends one paragraphs and starts another. By default browsers put an empty line between paragraphs.

Instead of enters you can try hard returns. Hold down shift when you hit enter. This will start another line without ending the current paragraph.

A more advanced but better method is to use CSS rules. The following CSS rule will decrease the space around all paragraphs to half the line height.

p {margin: 0; padding: 0.5em}

CSS is a huge and very powerful programming tool. I suggest you read up on CSS.

Thanks wiser3, you have been very helpful...

Pleasae excuse the definition correction...

'Hard returns' are done by hitting ENTER/RETURN and 'soft returns' are done by holding the SHIFT key while pressing ENTER/RETURN.

Despite wiser3's momentary lapse in definitions, everything else is right on.
