I have just started using XP and have come up with a dialing problem with Sidekick 98.
If I ask SK to dial a number, it just sits there doing nothing.
If I go into "Phone" then "Setup" I get the error "device name is not terminated with a null string".
Other dialer work OK (WinFax 10).
Any clues?

Dear tilltek,
I have never come across this before in Sidekick98, however as there is no other persion willing to help I will have a go.
First I would check the Modem properties from the device manager and see if there is anything there to give any hope. Make sure This exists in all hardware profiles is ticked
Then I would suggest backing up your data and re-installing Sidekick.
See the FAQ area of this forum,
particularly faq807-2807 for advice on which files need to be backed up.

If that doesn't work we will go from there.

Tilltek-

Did you ever get this fixed? I am experiencing the EXACT same problem with one of my users and desperately need a fix!!!!!! Help!

I have found the fix for this problem. There is a checkbox under the preferences for Sidekick that says "Dial using Handset". If it is checked, SK will exhibit this exact behavior.

M3FAn, I never did find out what caused it but by changing the modem type to a standard 56 It stopped.
The only time I see it now is if I click on PHONE-SETUP.

I looked at the "Dialing using handset" and it made no dif.
