Hi,

I am trying to use teaming on a server with 2 Compaq 1000 Server cards. These are connected to a Cat4000 switch. If just 1 card is connected then everything is OK. As soon as I connect the second card I start getting al sorts of problems. I think it is because the switch is confused as to which Mac address the packets came from.

Has anyeon had a similar problem or know how I can connect a multihomed server to a Cat4000?

Thanks,

Matt

How can the switch be confused as to which MAC address the frames came from? If you have two NIC's do you not have two DIFFERENT MAC addresses? Do you have both NIC cards in the same subnet? Also can you be more specific about the "all sorts of problems" your getting?

If you created an etherchannel team, then you need to make a etherchannel port group on the catalyst.

If its CatOS:

set port channel 3/1 4/1 <admin group> - channel reference number
set port channel 3/1 4/1 mode on

If is IOS:

interface FastEthernet 3/1
Channel-group 20 mode on

interface FastEthernet 4/1
Channel-group 20 mone on
