Hi,

I need to add padding to one table cell. When I change the 'spacing to contents' in 'table format', every cell in the table gets the padding.

How do you add different paddings to table cells? I would have thought there would be a way to highlight a cell and choose properties to change the padding.

Thanks for any help!

You can define a new style based on the "table contents" style, customise the style as desired, including adjusting spacing, and apply that style to the desired cells.

Hi,

I'm not sure how to create a new style. I opened the 'styles and formatting' window and tried to create a style but it disappeared the next time I opened the window. When a style is created how do you change the settings?

Thanks!

I assume you're using OOo 2, but I think the procedure is identical with 1.x.

Press F4 to show the Styles window. Right-click the "table contents" item, and select the "new" item to start creating a new style based on the "table contents" style. Pick a suitable name for the new style, like "padded cell". Make whatever adjustments you want, like "spacing to contents" (you will probably have to define a white border first), and click OK. The new style is then added to the list of styles. Select the cells you want to apply the new style to, and double-click the new style in the list, to apply it to the cells.
