I have 3 7406e brand new out the box, Avaya branded, that won't charge. Put in the battery, put it in the charger and the charging light goes on and screen says "initializing", "please register" and then "sleeping". After a day of charging, I remove the phone and screen goes blank and no buttons work. Am I doing something wrong. I don't remember there being a power switch or anything like that. Has Avaya changed something? I don't remember any weirdness like this with the Nortel version.

There was an issue with waking up the set.....pressing the Feature or middle row 2, 5 or 8 woke it up.
Removing the battery and reinstalling then the phone would wake up too.

There is a patch for handset and base but no readme as to what they solve.

Nothing. They don't appear to be charging.

I assume you checked the voltage on the charger itself...
