Synching calender with Blackberry

One of my collegues is attempting to synch his blackberry with outlook. Its synchs everything except his calender.
He gets the following error
Unable to get data from an outlook or MS Exchange record. Lack of network access to MS Exchange Server can cause this problem. Retry and if the problem persists, please refer to the on-line help topic.

Any idead what is happening here.

He is using Outlook 2003 on Exchange 2003 with Desktop manager v4.1
