Newbie here with Nortel Opt.11 - rev 15 problem.

We currently have a T1 supplying incoming source (no PRI yet) and occasionally experience sync loss issues that cause outward dialing to roll back in to the attendant console. Can anyone help with instructions for a graceful system shutdown/startup to resync? The guy I replaced just "threw the switch". Go easy on me here - I'm a real rookie.

Thanks,

Goto LD 60 and STAT, post results here.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Sorry I meant do a LCNT and post.

OK?

Now do a RCNT and also put LD 60 in your DROL.

Please explain:
RNCT - under ld 60?
DROL?

LCNT = list your counters (errors your circuit is taking)
RCNT = reset counters back to 0
Both in LD 60

Adding ld 60 in your DROL does the same thing during the midnight routines

By putting LD60 in the midnight routine you are masking the real issue.
You need that circuit tested with a T-Berd or other T-1 tester.
And if your new to this. I would call in a Telco service.
If its a half way decent company they should be able to define if its your PBX or the circuit having the slips and loss of frame errors your are receiving.

When you run a LCNT in LD 60 you should get this result every time

DTI TRK LOOP 1
TRSH CNT:
BPV -000
SLIPD -000
SLIPR -000
CRC -000
LOSFA -000
OS_BPV -000
OS_LOSFA-000
OS_YEL -000

Roger that! I will find a local outfit that can help with this. I will also tag the T1 provider and see what they can tell me as well.
I really appreciate the help - and at least now I can better explain to them what is happening.
Thanks again.

SLIPD = Frame Slips

LOSFA = Loss of Frame Alignment

OS_YEL = Yeelow alarm counter

Seeing this, you have had (since the last RCNT) a period where the other end of your T1 circuit couldn't see your T1 card - it then sends back a Yellow Alarm to inform your equipment of this.

Rules of troubleshooting telco issues:

1. The phone company is always going to blame your equipment for the fault

2. Unless the lights on the telco smartjack are out, refer to rule #1.

Also you want to print this

LD 73
prt
ddb

The prompts lfac and bipc should both be set to 0. The come default at 2 and 3. When the retry hit that limit it will quit trying to reestablish the T1. If they are set to 0 it will keep trying.

Also for bouncing the T1 without rebooting the switch do the following

disl 1

and wait for . to come back to disable

enll 1

will reenable the T1 and the status should look like the one posted earlier.

I'll give both a try and see what happens. I have tried disl and enll once before but don't remember that it worked.
Once again - thanks for the knowledge.

As tnphoneman said, DISL and ENLL will reset your T1. If you have any channels busy (STAT 1, see BUSY channels) then you might want to use

.DISI 1

instead. DISL (disable loop) is "non graceful" meaning that it interrupts any existing calls. DISI (disable idle channels) will disable channels only after calls end.

In your circumstance, DISL/ENLL is a faster way of resolving the problem... but I thought you should at least know about the DISI option in LD 60.
